at Fondazione Querini Stampalia
Through November 27, 2022, the Querini Stampalia Foundation is hosting a triptych of exhibitions curated by Danh Vo and Chiara Bertola, in collaboration with White Cube. One of the three featured artists is Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988), a creative American of Japanese descent. A sculptor, designer, architect and set designer, he still appears versatile and contemporary with his elaborate designs, dominating spaces despite their lightness. Isamu Noguchi, in fact, is the author of the famous Akari lamps, made of rice paper, designed for Vitra and, again for Vitra, of the iconic Coffee Table, which he called the best piece of furniture he created. The coffee table, a key player in furniture in the most diverse styles from 1944 to the present, traces the path of basic design, featuring the simplicity of the combination of the glass top and the solid wood frame, made from a single element, duplicated and reversed.
Discover Park Seo-Bo at Fondazione Querini Stampalia
At the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Isamu Noguchi makes an imposing and perfectly set presence. He measures himself, in dialogue, with the works of the other two guest artists, Danh Vo and Park Seo-Bo, and at the same time with the context of the environment, which varies from floor to floor. The proximity to Carlo Scarpa’s architecture is also exciting and unprecedented. One is spontaneously invited to wonder whether his works are ‘simple’ lightings, sculptures, or unique settings.
