An exhibition at Palazzo Reale – Milan
Until January 8, 2023, at Palazzo Reale, Milan, continues the photographic exhibition dedicated to the portraits of Maria Mulas. On display, are about 100 selected works by the artist, with faces that tell the story of Milan through the years from the 1960s to the 2000s. Sister of Ugo, also a talented photographer who died prematurely in 1973, Maria Mulas photographed the most representative figures of creative and effervescent Milan, including Umberto Eco, Gae Aulenti, Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani, and Miuccia Prada, Krizia (Mariuccia Mandelli), Inge Feltrinelli, Dario Fo, Carla Fracci, Vico Magistretti, Enzo Mari and Lea Vergine, Marcello Mastroianni, Ottavio Missoni, Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Giorgio Strehler and Luigi Veronesi, capturing their glances in everyday life.

The exhibition, curated by Andrea Tomasetig, is divided into the sections Architecture and Design, Art, Literature and Publishing, Fashion, Entertainment, Cosmopolitan Milan and Mary in the World; in addition to Milanese personalities, in fact, Maria Mulas photographed international artists, including Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Peggy Guggenheim, Christo, and Joseph Beuys, traveling between the Venice and Kassel Biennales, thus completing the picture of years rich in culture and events, in which so many of the icons of contemporary design, books and shows were born, which have marked our history.
