Slow Flow

A true cruise on rails: the La Dolce Vita Orient Express train slowly traverses Italy along eight itineraries rich in art, landscapes, and haute cuisine.

Venice, Portofino, Siena, the Sassi of Matera, the vineyards of Montalcino, the truffle routes towards Nizza Monferrato, and finally the Sicilian stops of Catania, Palermo, and Taormina: fourteen Italian regions are crossed by the new La Dolce Vita Orient Express train, entirely designed and built in Italy. “On board, guests will indulge in gastronomy crafted by Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck. A true celebration of all that Italy represents: this journey captures the essence of the country’s landscapes, flavors, and lifestyle,” says Gilda Perez-Alvarado, CEO of Orient Express. Comprising 31 cabins, 18 suites, 12 deluxe, and the La Dolce Vita Suite, the train is the result of a meticulous restoration and redesign that breathed new life into the original carriages. The interior design, curated by Dimorestudio, reinterprets the railway journey with a contemporary flair, paying homage to the Dolce Vita and the artistic and eclectic fervor of 1960s Italy. The use of precious materials and artisanal craftsmanship evokes the mastery of twentieth-century Italian design, from Giò Ponti to Nanda Vigo, Gae Aulenti to Osvaldo Borsani. The interior style draws inspiration from the travelers of that era, figures from cinema to culture, yet pulsates with today’s rhythm and a deeply Italian spirit. Finely lacquered surfaces, brass details, precious materials, contrasts between glossy and matte finishes, and meticulous layering of decorative elements blend harmoniously to create exclusive, timeless spaces. orient-express.com
