Maurizio Cattelan

Breath Ghosts Blind

Iconic images, caustic visual language, the ability to spark heated public debate: this is Maurizio Cattelan and his way of inviting the viewer to change perspective and to acknowledge the complexity and ambiguity of reality. From July 15, 2021 to February 20, 2022, Pirelli HangarBicocca presents Maurizio Cattelan’s solo exhibition “Breath Ghosts Blind.” Through a symbolic representation of the circle of life, the exhibition will give the audience an insight into collective and individual history, hovering between hope and failure, matter and spirit, truth and fiction. Curated by Roberta Tenconi and Vicente Todolí, the solo exhibition “Breath Ghosts Blind” will unfold in a series of separate acts dealing with existential concepts and issues such as the fragility of life, memory, the individual and collective sense of loss. The site-specific exhibition project at Pirelli HangarBicocca will challenge the current system of values amongst symbolic references and images belonging to the collective imagery. pirellihangarbicocca.org
