The exhibition at Museo del Novecento, Milan
The first Italian architect to win a Pritzker Prize, Aldo Rossi, was also a designer who left an unforgettable mark on design history. While some design projects are better known to insiders, others, such as the Conica coffee maker designed for Alessi in 1984, were a worldwide success and are still in production today.

Between the end of the 1970s and 1997, the year of his unexpected death, Aldo Rossi designed over 70 pieces of furniture and objects, investigating materials and collaborating with the best Italian design companies. Many of his works feature subtle irony, such as the “Piroscafo” bookcase, which actually resembles a steamship, or the “Cabina dell’Elba” closet, which reproduces a beach cabin, from 1982.
Today, the Museo del Novecento in Milan is dedicating an exhibition to Aldo Rossi’s design, Aldo Rossi. Design 1960-1997, curated by Chiara Spangaro, with Morris Morris Adjmi – MA Architects exhibition design. In addition to many pieces of furniture and objects designed by him, the exhibition is an opportunity to look at his sketches and drawings, illustrating the relationship between architecture, design, and graphics.
