These are high-tech jewels designed and manufactured with amazing craftsmanship by Alpi Aviation, manufacturer of light and ultralight aircraft, helicopters and unarmed military drones.
In 1999 Alpi Aviation produced the first model, Pioneer 300, fulfilling the dream rooted on “a strong passion for flying and that same ‘pioneering spirit’ of the founding fathers of world aviation”.
These high-performance aircraft are created for beginners, experienced, traveler and aerobatic pilots around the world.
The company is headquartered in Pordenone, near the LIKL La Comina airport, a few kilometers from Venice, while the main factory is in Croatia and deals with the construction of wooden parts and a first assembly of aircraft.
The two-seat aircraft, also supplied in a kit for amateur construction as well as ready for flight, are fixed or rotary wing like the two-seater turbine helicopter Alpi Syton AH 130 and can be equipped with a large number of equipment and options, concerning, for example, the instrumentation and interiors.
More than 1,000 have been sold, with thousands of flight hours, in 31 countries. Among the fixed-wing models there are the Pioneer 200 and the 300 series, coming in several models, from the fixed or retractable landing gear to the acrobatic version, reaching the so-called ‘pursuit of perfection’ the Pioneer 300 Griffon. To be then mentioned the top traveler, the modern Pioneer 400, also built, like the whole range, combining wood and cutting-the-edge composite materials, such as carbon fiber and Dacron. This element of the Pioneer line results in perfect aerodynamic shapes, avoids corrosion problems and ensures an almost endless stress-resistance, making the device long lasting. They used striped fir, the same used for musi instruments. “It is a material – explain the manufacturers – ideal for aircraft: it is long-lasting and lightweight. It has an excellent strength/specific weight ratio: it is resistant to bending, compression and traction, with better performance during dynamic stresses, as usual during flight. It is elastic and returns to its original shape when the loads to which it is subjected cease, making the flying experience very comfortable. All these characteristics are stable with varying temperatures.
