Afro-Tyrolean kitsch by Poltronova

at Fondazione Sozzani, in Milan

Through September, 11th, 2022, the Fondazione Sozzani (Sozzani Foundation) in Milan, is hosting the exhibition Afro-Tyrolean Kitsch SANREMO I SAFARI I SUPERONDA FARFALLA Archizoom Associati | GHERPE I PASSIFLORA I SOFO I OFELIA I SPERA I VANITAS I T02 Superstudio | JOE I JOE BALL De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi | ULTRAFRAGOLA Ettore Sottsass jr. The exhibition, curated by Centro Studi Poltronova, presents new versions of Poltronova’s historical products, designed in the late 1960s and 1970s by the leading architects of that period. A photo story on the walls explains the unconventional approach of the historical designers and their interest in the “Afro-Tyrolean” theme and completes the exhibition.

For the occasion, Poltronova also presents the SUPERONDA FARFALLA prototype, for indoor and outdoor use. The Farfalla (Butterfly) fabric, designed by Archizoom in 1968, was a pop reinterpretation of the floral theme, and today is part of Poltronova’s fabric catalog. With the Farfalla fabric, the Superonda sofa becomes a work of art, in which we can read the continuity with that part of history. Poltronova.it
