The Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte pays homage to Japan with a collection of mirrors with porcelain decorations. The mirrors, designed by Valter Luca De Bartolomeis, feature decorations in kakiemon style, the porcelain initially created in Japan in the 17th century.

Kakiemon decorations can also be found in Capodimonte porcelain from the eighteenth century and in some archive pieces from the historic porcelain school. Traditionally bi-dimensional, decorations on mirrors here break free from the surface and invade space, becoming three-dimensional. Worked in molding with the typical techniques of the Real Fabbrica, they are set within organic shapes with naturalistic elements, made of soft porcelain, hand-painted in pure gold, with third-fire colored enamels.
