MAI MUSEUM is an open-air museum that combines contemporary art and multimedia technology, reinterpreting places, on Lake Garda and worldwide. The archaeological area of the Grotte di Catullo is the most important archaeological example of a Roman villa of the early imperial age present in northern Italy; in fact, it preserves within it two hectares of the remains of Villa Catullo, one of the largest Roman residential villas in the north of Italy, surrounded by a historic olive grove with more than 1,500 trees. Set on a rocky outcrop at the tip of the Sirmione peninsula, it offers a breathtaking view of the lake. For the first time, thanks to the exhibition ‘Stravaganze Imperiali,’ the Grotte di Catullo will host multimedia installations and contemporary artworks by artist Vera Uberti, with a digital triptych by artist David LaChapelle, and will be open to visitors during the evening, from 8:45 p.m. to midnight.
