The Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo – Centro studi di storia del tessuto, del costume, del profumo (Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia), until November 27th presents the olfactory exhibition Es-senze (Es-sences). Es-senze, curated by Pier Paolo Pancotto and Chiara Squarcina, is an exhibition in partnership with the perfume maker Mavive. Twelve olfactory installations created by twelve contemporary artists, distributed in the rooms on the second floor of Palazzo Mocenigo, create a multisensory path that allows visitors to virtually immerse themselves in the artists’ meditations.

The set engages the visitor in an interactive journey through colors, smells and sounds, and also embodies an intricate historical tale on the notes of essences in the context of costumes, paintings, glass containers, frescoes and period textiles. The idea is to decode a concept with the help of a fragrance. And, as if art could ideally emanate its own scent, the works on display will envelop the viewer in an extreme variety of fragrances with equally heterogeneous tones, as many as the sensations they manage to evoke. The artists in the exhibition are Mircea Cantor, Mateusz Chorobski, Jason Dodge, Bruna Esposito, Eva Marisaldi, Florian Mermin, Giuseppe Penone, Paola Pivi, Namsal Siedlecki, Achraf Touloub, Nico Vascellari, and Luca Vitone.
