Antonio Aricò and the high pastry

Design and Pasticceria Martesana Milano

Antonio Aricò, an eclectic Sicilian designer, collaborated with Martesana Milano pastry shop, Alta Pasticceria di Quartiere (High Pastry Shop), on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2022. Pastry chef Domenico Di Clemente designed a capsule of cakes inspired by tales of a traditionally ‘exotic’ Italy. Two fairy tale characters, Coco and Rosalia, take us on a fantasy journey to transport us into an imaginary world of memories, memory and taste; the two cakes are opposites but complementary. On a crumbly cookie base, Rosalia adds strawberries, vanilla and mascarpone, Mediterranean flavors; Coco, on the other hand, more exotic, seduces with almond, coconut and lime mousse. Coco and Rosalia are also on the packaging of Pasticceria Martesana, Bottega Storica (Historical Shop) in Milan since 1966 and Tre Torte Gambero Rosso in 2022, on which they draw ‘swirls and doodles.’

Antonio Aricò designed a special edition of the cakes and packaging, in acid and pastel colors. The collaboration between Pasticceria and Aricò marks a new chapter in the Milanese workshop’s ongoing experimentation. An encounter between the Culture of Dessert and a multifaceted designer, a tribute to Italian entrepreneurship of excellence, a meeting of creativity that adds sweetness to sweetness. Antonio Aricò’s capsule cakes are on sale until September 2022. Martesanamilano.com
