A park for social inclusion
From Saturday, September 17, 2022, the Horti, in Pavia, will open to the public. It is the 35,000-square-meter park of the Almo Collegio Borromeo in Pavia, which the institution has redeveloped as a place open to the public. Here natural habitats, contemporary art, ethics, equity and social inclusion are intertwined. Once dedicated to cultivating vegetables and fruit, today’s park is a place of sociality to enhance the historical heritage of Italy’s oldest university college of merit. With Horti.Oasi, the Horti safeguards biodiversity. On the other hand, Horti.Arte allows everyone to permanently exhibit wall paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists; Horti.Etica, finally, fosters social inclusion, job reintegration and the promotion of volunteerism. It complements the Zero Park project, a food court run by Planeat.eco, which encourages a sustainable lifestyle.

The Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation joined the Horti.Arte project and granted on free loan some works from its collection, monumental sculptures by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Nicola Carrino, Gianfranco Pardi, Luigi Mainolfi, Mauro Staccioli and Salvatore Cuschera. Alongside these, works commissioned by the College by artists such as Ivan Tresoldi and David Tremlett will also find a place in the park. The Horti will be open to the public with free admission from Tuesday to Sunday; they can also be visited through an App that will guide users to discover the park’s beauty. Collegioborromeo.it
