A new hotel in Venice, Italy
Historical heritage and avant-garde soul, The Venice Venice hotel is a new chapter in hospitality in Venice. After decades of neglect, Palazzo Ca’ da Mosto, one of the oldest in Venice, regained its splendor, thanks to a respectful transformation that brought its true essence back to its origins. A patrician home of the Da Mosto family, from the 1600s to the 1800s it housed the Locanda del Lion Bianco. The Locanda hosted rulers, literati and aristocrats on the Grand Tour. The revival is due to visionaries Alessandro and Francesca Gallo, also founders of the luxury sneakers brand Golden Goose, who devoted themselves to this mission to revive the city’s spirit. So much so that they drew up an ambitious Post-Venetian Manifesto, in favor of a renewed creative impulse.

The hotel, on the border between Cannaregio and Rialto, can be accessed from the Corte del Lion Bianco, climbing the steep steps or entering directly on the first floor, in what used to be the subportego of the ferry, in the Venice M’Art, with arts and crafts store and bar-restaurant. It’s also accessible by disembarking from the Grand Canal, in an entrance dominated by a marble sculpture by Fabio Viale. The feeling is of landing in a new dimension of hospitality: trend-conscious and respectful of tradition, but without its stereotypes. Reclaimed antique doors screen the more contemporary entrances to the rooms, one different from the other, furnished between art and design. The Venice Bitter Club features a carbon-fiber console bar surrounded by walls covered in tapestries, a site-specific work by artist Francesco Simeti; Venini chandeliers form an installation on the building’s second main floor.
